The Play Cash Attack

Group photo

Play Cash Attack meet 4 times a year in Banbury to decide how to spend the Oxfordshire Play Pot. Play Pot is £25 thousand pounds a year.

What has your group been created for?

We are a group of 8 children and young people in charge of giving out Play Pot fairly.  We had training so we know what to do.

We are here to spend our taxes (well it is our parents' taxes becasue we don't work yet so we don't pay tax). Some of the taxes go to Oxfordshires Play Pot - that's Government money to make sure we (the kids) get good play. Groups can ask Play Pot for up to £2,000 for a play project or play equipment or making a change in a playspace to make it better.

So far we have decided to say yes to new play equipment, for a group of children to work with a gardener to make a living willow tunnel and a van for a play ranger so children in villages can take safe risks with outdoor play.

How has it made a difference?

It has make us wiser about spending money, we have been socialising and have met new people. We are happy.

What do you do in your group?

We learn how to spend money and we decide how to spend money.

How do you make sure that every child or young person is heard?

We speak in turns and give everyone a chance to speak.
