Children and young people's mental health

Mental Health Sounding Board

What do they do?

The Sounding Board meets 4 times a year, to listen to the views of Oxfordshire's children and young people on issues that matter to them, and to give them the chance to discuss things with adults who make the decisions about services in Oxfordshire. This Sounding Board is a special one about children and young people's mental health.

About the role

At this Sounding Board we are interested in listening to the views of children and young people who have been involved in mental health services. We are planning a special meeting about children and young people's mental health. This means how you are feeling and thinking about your life. Mental health services are some of the ways people can help you when things get really difficult, like PCAMHS (Primary Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services). This could be counseling or other kinds of help.

Maybe you have felt really bad or had some problems recently, or in the past, and got some help. Or maybe you wanted help but you didn't know how to get it? Maybe you felt like hurting yourself or someone else, or maybe someone was hurting you.

We're having a Sounding Board to discuss this topic, so we can plan services for the future. Are you interested in coming along?

It will be confidential, and we won't put you on the spot. If we are going to develop the best services for you, then we need to listen to your views. So you are very welcome to come along.

Travel

We encourage the use of public transport and we can refund your fares. Talk to us if there's a real problem with getting there.

Payment

It's voluntary.
