Disabled young people run a national workshop

Three disabled young people from the Oxfordshire Youth Enablers will lead a workshop on issues around economic wellbeing at a major conference with the National Youth Agency.
Oxfordshire Youth Enablers (OYE!) is the children and young people’s disability forum for Oxfordshire County Council. Three of its members will be training in presentation skills to build on their existing skills for the conference. They will present their ideas to managers and practitioners from national statutory and voluntary services for children and young people. The conference is organised by the Financial Services Authority and sponsored by Barclays Bank.
The OYE! workshop is one of 4 being run at the conference. These workshops aim to influence the people who make policies in national and local government, and in voluntary sector organisations. This is the first of many meetings with disabled young people who will be influencing local and national policy.
After the conference, results will be presented at an evening session with MPs, senior civil servants, senior managers, and the young people who led the workshops. The National Youth Agency will also publish findings online.
Date: 30th March 2009
Time: 10am - 4.30pm
