Takeover Day 2010

Takeover Day logo

Are you ready? This year's Takeover Day is happening on Friday 12th November. With the guidance of the Children's Commissioner for England, we have created an information pack to help you plan and carry out your own Takeover.

Takeover Day is a national event offering children and young people across the country the chance to work alongside adults and get involved in decision-making in a wide range of organisations. Everyone can be part of it.

Last year's Takeover Day was more like a Takeover Week, with a diverse range of Takeovers happening over the course of several days. It was a great success (.pdf format, 1.26 MB). To see what 2008's Takever was like, watch the film made by a group of young Roving Reporters who covered it.

So what happened? In 2009, around 30,000 children and young people across England worked with hundreds of organisations, including businesses, schools, police and fire services, newspapers, banks, TV and radio stations, charities, local councils, MPs, hospitals and government departments. Children and young people shadowed top jobs, advised on key decisions, and offered a different perspective on big issues. This year the Children's Commissioner for England want to raise the number of children and young people taking part to 40,000! You can help make 2010 a Takeover year to remember.
