Young People's Networking Day

Young people 'uncovered' the County Council at a Networking event which included political speed dating, workshops and activities.

What happened?

This event was a chance for students to find out more about what Oxfordshire County Council does, how services involve them, meet Councillors and share their views about issues that affect them.

There was a quiz on the Council, a discussion about the new Children & Young People's Plan for 2010-13, and voting by students on what they thought the Council's priorities should be.

Students and Councillors had a chance to question each other during political speed dating. There was a discussion about accessibility of information on activities for young people,  a discussion about the Council's Arts Development plan, and much more.

30 students (94%) said they leant more about the Council

“Made me feel like my opinion counted and was valued.”

“I learnt a lot I didn’t know about local politics.”

“Learnt about sports in my area.”

“I really enjoy arts so it was interesting for me”

“It was good to have a voice.”
